Home Remedies for Dry and Oily Skin
For Dry Skin
- Mix one spoon of powder of Multani mitti (Fuller’s earth) in half cup of curd (sour in taste) and then add juice of half lemon to it. Apply this paste on your face, legs, and hands and rub lightly. Wash after half an hour. The skin will no longer remain dry.
- Make a paste taking – ¼ cup of juice of cucumber, 4 spoons of powder of gram,
4 spoons of curd (sour in taste) and a few drops of lemon juice to it. Apply the paste on your body- face, hands and legs. Wash after half an hour. The skin will become soft and dryness will be removed.
- Make a paste of turmeric powder and water. Add a few drops of lemon juice to it. Apply the paste on your skin. Wash after half an hour. Dryness of the skin will be removed.
For Oily Skin
- Mix half spoon of turmeric powder with approx. 60gm of powder of gram and make a paste adding milk or water. Add 8 to 10 drops of sesame oil or mustard oil and then stir. Apply this paste on your face, neck, hands and legs and elbows. After ten minutes when the paste begins to dry then remove it. Then wash your skin with lukewarm water or take bath. Wipe out water with dry soft towel. Skin will become soft and will shine.
- Rub slices of cucumber on your body or apply juices of cucumber on your body. Then wash after some time. This is very useful for oily skin.
Home Remedies for Skin Care
Many creams are available in the market but all of them are not useful. Use of some may also damage your skin. But if one uses natural and home made cream then there may not be any side effect. Here some tips are being given for skin care:-
Apply lemon juice on sesame (latin name: sesamum indicum). Then grind it.
Apply the paste of sesame and lemon juice on your face. Wash your face after two hours. Your skin will become soft and will be freed from pimples / acne.
Make powder of cinnamon. Take ¼ spoon of cinnamon powder and put a few drops of lemon juice over it so that a paste can be made out of those two ingredients. Apply the paste on your face. Wash your face after one hour.
Mix one part of lemon juice with four parts of glycerin and apply on your face. Pimples / Acne will be cured.
Take very hot milk then cool it. Layer of cream develops over the surface. If one spoon of that cream is taken out and is mixed with lemon juice and applied on face, then skin will become soft.
Mix three ingredients: lemon juice, rose water and glycerin in equal parts and put inside a bottle. Before going to bed apply this solution on the face. Do this for several days. Your face will glow.
Essential Oils and Aroma Therapy
Essential Oils are aromatic volatile liquids extracted from plants and their different parts like flowers, barks, leaves, stems, roots, fruits etc. As for example Cinnamon oil is extracted from the bark of cinnamon, orange and lemon oils from the rind of their fruits, lavender oil from its flowers etc.
Methods of Extraction of Essential Oils
There are various methods of extraction of essential oils. The most popular method of extraction is Steam distillation. Other methods include Expression, Solvent extraction, Enfleurage, Maceration etc.
Expression is a cold pressed method and is used for extracting oils from the rind of citrus fruits such as orange, lemon, grape fruit, bergamot etc.
Enfleurage is another method of extraction of essential oil and is usually used to extract oil from fairly soft plant materials like buds, flowers, petals etc. This method is very expensive and the process involved in this method is lengthy. Solvent extraction method is used for extracting oil from delicate plant materials which cannot tolerate heat and are damaged by heat. For example: rose and jasmine.
